Please meet our Guest Designer, Francine!
Hello Everyone!
Well, you've now meet all the talented ladies on our Design Team (I happen to know that Michelle is already done with 1 project!), so let me introduce you to our fabulous Guest Designer, Francine! Francine has been published in Altered Arts for her 3-D projects, as well as a coffee book and has a great altered style! Take a moment and get to know her!
Tell us a little about yourself!
I am a self-taught artist working in mixed media and altered art.
I love to decorate bottles and shoes and decoupage as well.
My love for art started as a little girl when I started drawing.
What is your scrapbook style?
My scrapbook style is traditional, shabby chic, vintage. I love
anything vintage and old. I usually do not like cutesy!
Are you scrapbook, card or project person?
I am mostly a project person first and then scrapbook layouts
come next.
What's on your scrapbook desk right now?
On my scrap desk right now is a complete mess! LOL
I have a hard time working in disarray but will be cleaning
it up real soon, so I can start working again.
What is your favorite product? Favorite companies or lines?
My favorite product would most likely be Prima Flower
embellishments. I love working with them. I love vintage
papers like Graphic 45, Bo Bunny, Glitz Designs and
K & Company.
What can you not scrap without?
I cannot scrap without my tape runners, tape dots, any kind
of glues and glue sticks and adhesives necessary to work.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get my inspiration from looking at pictures and scenery
and get my ideas from that.
What are your favorite television shows? Your favorite music?
My favorite tv shows, would be Friends, Law & Order,
Mike & Molly, I think too many to list. Music varies as well, I would say all (especially Disco), Jazz, I do not like country or opera.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is the smell of my mom's
cooking and all of us sitting at the table eating the
delicious food.
If you were having a dinner party, which 5 guests would you invite?
The five people I would invite would be: Anthony LaPaglia,
Chris Noth, Oprah, Paula Dean and Jennifer Lopez
What is one thing on your bucket list?
The one and most important thing on my bucket list
is to become an accomplished artist, published, and
recognized.
Thanks for sharing, Francine! And here's some of Francine's work!
You can also check out Francine's blog, www.exclusivelyoursdesigns.blogspot.com for more inspiration!
Well, that's it for now! Check back around the middle of May to see what the Design Team cooked up. You'll be seeing some fun JilliBean product, Graphic 45, WeR and much more! You can also head into the store to see the projects that got the ladies their spots on the DT!
See you soon!

Meet our last DT Member!
I had such a good time meeting with Christina and Michelle last week! They picked up their kits and ,(I'm sure), are diving right in!
So, without furter ado - meet Debbie Lacey!
- Tell us a little something about yourself.
Hi my name is Debbie and I am married to a wonderful guy who is very supportive of my habit of paper crafting. We have been married for 35 years and have two wonderful children; a daughter, Kristi, who is 30 and a son, Andy, who is 26. Kristi lives close by with her boyfriend and his daughter and Andy is still occupying space at home. We also have two Australlian Shepherds, Mic and Macey that are two years old and definately think that they are human. I live in Anaheim, California where I have lived all of my life.
- What is your scrapbook style and how long have you been crafting?
I would say that my style is clean and simple. I have been scrapbooking since 1999 and added card making to the mix a few years ago. When I started scrapbooking it was through Creative Memories and everything was very flat with paper borders and matted pictures. Today it has evolved into a lot more texture and homemade embellishments. I am also very symetrical with my scrapping and always do two-page layouts.
- Are you a layout person, card person, project person? All of the above? I love doing layouts and cards. When I go out to a crop I prefer to spend my time doing layouts, but when at home in my scrap room I like to do cards.
- What is on your scrapdesk right now?
Everything under the sun! It had become a catch-all for everything that came into my scraproom, but I am working on getting it cleared off so I can be more creative right there at home.
- What is your favorite scrapping product? Which company's or lines are your favorites?
I would have to say that I like a lot of products right now, but I tend to gravitate towards paper. I have a love of many different manufacturers, but some of my favorites right now are: Echo Park, Jillibean, Fancy Pants, Basic Grey, Cosmo Cricket, Nikki Sivils, and I'm sure the list could go on and on.
- What can you NOT scrap without?
Probably my Fiskars paper trimmer, punches, spellbinder dies, and ATG gun.
- Where do you get your inspiration?
I get a lot of inspiration from blog hopping and also from sketches.
- What are your favorite TV shows? Favorite music?
I enjoy watching a lot of the reality TV shows, such as Amazing Race, Celebrity Apprentice, Dancing with the Stars, Survivor, and almost anything that is on the Food Network. I don't really listen to too much music, but I enjoy listening to Sugarland in my husband's truck when traveling and at their concerts.
- What is your favorite childhood memory?
I would have to say that my favorite childhood memory is a combination of all of the time my family spent together either at home or at my Aunt or Uncle's houses.
- What's 1 thing on your "Bucket List"?
To visit the East Coast of the United States, to travel along the coast and see all of the different states and sites.
- Favorite Shoes?
I would have to say that my favorite shoes right now besides my flip-flops, would be my Sketcher Shape Ups, especially since that is all I wear.
Thanks, Debbie!
Here's a few pictures of some of Debbie's work!
Thanks for checking out our new Design Team - we hope you're as excited as we are to see what everyone's making! We do have one more person to introduce you to, our new Guest Designer! She's into Altered Arts, has been published several times and has an affinity for shoes! Check back later this week to meet her!

Scrapping Cottage and Peechy Keen have teamed up once again and I've got the results in the shop now. Very cute..you can't help but smile when you look at them.
We now have "Twinery" twine in really yummy colors. This is a "must have" for everyone's craft basket!
Our October Afternoon selection is growing. Today Mr. UPS brought papers and embellishments from "Modern Homemaker" and "5 & Dime".
We're still waiting for My Mind's Eye new lines and Doodlebugs release that is due to ship next week.
Be sure to stop by often because you know what they say..."if you snooze, you lose!"

Meet Christina from Pages Design Team!
Hello, Everyone!
Have you enjoyed meeting the some of the Pages Design Team? Getting inspired? Well, here's another lady from our team, so meet Christina!
- Tell us a little something about yourself.
I grew up in Redlands and married my high school sweetheart. I have a degree in medical microbiology, but I did not work in that field for long. After moving briefly to Arizona and Florida, we returned to Cali and I became a Massage Therapist for 3 years. I’ve been working as an Admin now for about 6 years.
- What is your scrapbook style and how long have you been crafting?
The style I like best is “boyish” – think grunge, gothic, distressed – but I am still trying to get comfortable working with those kinds of papers. I started my papercrafting passion with stamping back in 1994 when someone gave me a homemade card with a Winnie the Pooh stamp that I LOVED. I also do other types of crafts – jewelry making, cake decorating, candy making, mixed-media artwork.... I’m trying it all!
- Are you a layout person, card person, project person? All of the above? More than anything, I do more stamping because I am constantly making greeting cards and invitations since there is always something to celebrate! Most of the layouts I make are gifts for people... I have not done a lot of them for myself!
- What is on your scrapdesk right now?
I’ve been playing with Glimmer mists and masks! There’s also paper, scissors, a fluorish stamp, and a heating gun from the last invitations I made for someone.
- What is your favorite scrapping product? Which company's or lines are your favorites?
My favorite scrapping product right now is Thickers which make it easy for me to add titles that pop. My most favorite lines are Basic Grey and Tim Holtz! I tend to like My Mind’s Eye, Little Yellow Bicycle, October Afternoon...
- What can you NOT scrap without?
A ruler!! ....but I’m working on trying to stop being such a perfectionist lol ;)
- Where do you get your inspiration?
I get inspiration from anywhere and everywhere... I may see a technique in a display that I want to try, or I could even hear a line in a song that I want to incorporate onto a page.
- What are your favorite TV shows? Favorite music?
My favorite TV shows are currently Big Bang Theory and Criminal Minds. I love all types of music!
- What is your favorite childhood memory?
Watching The Young and The Restless with my grandmother... which I still try to watch if I’m ever home!
- What's 1 thing on your "Bucket List"
I want to travel as much of the world as possible, but in particular, I want to go to India and the Antarctic!
- Do you have a favorite pair of shoes?
I LOVE GOING BAREFOOT – even if it was snowing outside!
- If you could throw a dinner party for 5 of your "Most Interesting" people, who would be invited?
This is very difficult for me to answer! I am fascinated by people’s stories and I believe everyone has a story to tell, so I would not necessarily name anyone “famous”. I think it may surprise people to know how interested I am in stories from major historical events (such as survivors of the holocaust) or even just personal triumph over any goal or adversity.
And here's some samples of Christina's work!
We'll see everyone back here tomorrow for another introduction!
Hope you're all having a great week!

Get to know the Pages DT!
Hello again! Well, today it's my turn to tell you a little about myself!
- Tell us a little something about yourself.
My name is Andrea (Andi), and I'm a SAHM to a very energetic, 3 year old little boy, Adam. I've been married to my highschool sweetheart going on 5 years. I teach classes at various stores, love reading, papercrafting and sewing, going overboard on a themed party...
- What is your scrapbook style and how long have you been crafting?
My style is ever-changing! I typically think of myself as a clean, linear, white-space loving, scrapper! But I think it more depends on the paper and pictures that I'm working with. I try to make my paper go super far, so I make a lot of my own embellishments. I started scrapping as a teenager, probably around 16, then became a Making Memories Demonstrator, then worked at my LSS and finally started teaching classes. I was on the Collective Journey DT, I've been a QuicKutz Ambassador (that's how I met Kathy!), then was on the QuicKutz Design Team - and now I'm so happy be the DT Coordinator for Pages From the Heart!
- Are you a layout person, card person, project person? All of the above?
I started out as strictly scrapper, but have morped into an "All of the above" person! I LOVE making mini-albums, I teach a lot of card classes and rarely have time to work on my own pages!
- What is on your scrapdesk right now?
My sewing machine, Pink Paislee's newest lines, October Afternoon's 5&Dime paper line, a bunch of solid paper, my carrying basket, which holds my: ScrappyGlue, Distress Ink Pads, Glossy Accents, Scissors, Black Millinium pens (in 4 different sizes), paper trimmer, bone folder, paper piercer, chip clips (sounds odd, huh?), Distress Filer, corner rounder... a little bird tray that holds my little embellishments and chapstick, my Silhouette Machine - phew! No wonder I never have enough room to actually work!
- What is your favorite scrapping product? Which company's or lines are your favorites?
Ohh - I LOVE paper! I am a paper hoarder! I also love dies - and luckily I get to play with most of the LifeStyle (aka QuicKutz) new releases! My favorite company's are October Afternoon, Cosmo Cricket, EchoPark, Crate Paper, Pink Paislee... I could keep going and going! I tend to go for a more vintage look, except for when I'm working on Adam's pages - which I tend to do in playful papers!
- What can you NOT scrap without?
I need my paper trimmer, Scrappy Glue, bakers twine, scissors and Distress Ink!
- Where do you get your inspiration?
I get it from all over - I get it from blogs, magazines, Pottery Barn catelogues, Antropology... sometimes I even get it from me! Crazy, huh?
- What are your favorite TV shows? Favorite music?
Hmm, well, I love horrible television, like Bravo reality shows (I'm totally embarassed to admit it, too!). I LOVE Glee, Secret's from a Stylist, Cash and Cari... a lot of HGTV! But, most of the time our television is tuned into the Disney Channel or we're watching trash trucks on YouTube... As far as music, it totally depends on my mood, but since Adam can sing "Hey, Jude" and "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" by heart, I guess you could say that I'm a Beatle's fan...
- What's your favorite shoes?
I'm a flip-flops kinda girl, but I LOVE shoes! I have these super fun leopard print, fuzzy Steve Madden peep-toe kitten heels that I wish I had an opportunity to wear more often!
- What is your favorite childhood memory?
I had an amazing childhood, so many great memories - I can remember my Mom dancing around and singing Abba at the top of her lungs while vaccumning and scooping me up and twrilling... my Grandpa Lloyd saying goodbye, shaking his finger at me and telling me "Be Good", my Dad cheering for me at a softball game where I did a belly slide for the first time... spending Christmas with our WHOLE family (Aunts/Uncles/Cousins/Grandparents) up in Wrightwood at my Grandparents cabin...
- If you could throw a dinner party for 5 of your "Most Interesting" people, who would be invited?
Hmm, I would totally want to have President Obama, my Grandpa Lloyd, Jane Austin, The Beatles (yes, I'm cheating and counting them as 1) and either Heidi Swapp or Martha Stewart... Martha might be a little dry
- What's 1 thing on your "Bucket List"?
I really, really, really want to to make my "hobby" - ie - crafting, into a business that I can help support our family with!
Here's a few samples:
Well, that's it! You can check out my blog at:

Meet Our Design Team!
Hello Everyone!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to one of our fantastic Design Team members - Michelle McClure! Her projects are awesome, you'll totally want to check out her blog after reading all about her!
Tell us a little something about yourself.
I use to live in Monrovia, a hop, skip and jump away from Pages from the Heart's previous location, and remember them moving in that little corner space. Now I live in Temple City but like to frequent the ol' neighborhood and am so excited to get involved with my local scrapbook store. This was one of my New Year's resolutions, so thanks for letting me actually accomplish one. Hee hee. I live with my husband and two dogs, love volleyball and skating, and never did outgrow my childhood affinity for Hello KItty. I even went to the Hello Kitty shrine in Kyoto last summer, well it doesn't worship Hello Kitty but sells amulets with her emblem on it to grant you success in business and studies.
> - What is your scrapbook style and how long have you been crafting?
I like to make fun, whimsical layouts that are on the cute side and document a point in time so I feel happy when I look through my giant puffy albums. For cards I like to experiment and try new folds, techniques and sentiments. I view it as an exercise in creativity. For altered items, I stay within conventional norms since they are mostly for gifts. I feel I've been crafting all my life and was making scrapbooks from anything and everything around me when I was a kid, like my dad's photos of factory inspections. I'd make up the dialogue and journaling to his dull factory tours in China.
> - Are you a layout person, card person, project person? All of the above?
I'll make anything as the need arises. I make layouts for myself, and card and projects for others.
> - What is on your scrapdesk right now?
I have my carousel tool kit and two 12 x 12 plastic storage cases. One houses punches, another general embellishments like ribbon, bling and threads. I have my papers and more specific embellishments packaged together in kits in plastic baggies. I grab a bag, use my basic scrapdesk items and go.
> - What is your favorite scrapping product? Which company's or lines are your favorites?
I don't know if I have a favorite, there are so many wonderful products and ever changing lines out there. I just started using the i-Rock and just received my i-Top in the mail this week. I can't wait to try it out. I like the classic look of My MInd's Eye, the cheerfulness of Echo Park, the Asian themes in My Little Shoebox and the cool new tools and delicate sheen on Imaginisce's patterned papers.
> - What can you NOT scrap without?
My Fiskars premium portable paper trimmer, Martha Stewart heavy duty scissors, Close to My Heart micro-tip scissors, Pentel EnerGel pen, foam dots and Scotch adhesive dot roller, nothing glamorous but totally essential!
> - Where do you get your inspiration?
Sometimes I get it from the DT samples on manufactorer's blogs, sometimes from an interesting ad or packaging material, and sometimes from the dark recesses of my brain.
> - What are your favorite TV shows? Favorite music?
I prefer comedy stations to music, but watch American Idol and get my music fix from there.
Do you have a favorite pair of shoes?
I have a lot of hand painted Converses like purple with a green dragon.
> - What is your favorite childhood memory?
I remember eating at a little beachside stand in Taiwan and I wanted a napkin. My dad went to the car and got me a tissue and I thought he does love me (because I wouldn't have gone back to the car). Is that a strange thought?
> - If you could throw a dinner party for 5 of your "Most Interesting" people, who would be invited?
I wouldn't mind meeting some of the cast of characters from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, like of course Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy. I would want to see Mr. Wickham and Lydia post book, to see if they've changed at all or are even together. I'd want to see if Elizabeth is as post-modern as the movies depict.
> - What's 1 thing on your "Bucket List"?
When I was younger I wanted to swim with dolphins after reading A Ring of Endless Light. I did get to do that during a spring break in Cancun. Something I haven't done is traveling to Scotland and visiting a castle, like the one in Monty Python's Holy Grail. I hear you can rent coconuts when you are there. That would be a totally scrappy moment. I can see the layout already. Do you find sometimes you take photos to match a layout rather than create a layout to match your photos?
Here's some of Michelle's work - it's total eye candy!

Design Team Call is now CLOSED!
Hello Everyone! My name is Andi and I'm the Pages from the Heart Design Team Coordinator - and I'm so happy to introduce myself and do my first official Design Team post! You'll be hearing more from me over the next few weeks and months, some of you I've had the pleasure to meet at Pages during classes or just hanging out and I can't wait to meet all of the Pages "Peeps", I've heard so many wonderful things about everyone that shops here! Thanks so much to all the amazing and talented ladies who submitted application and work for the Design Team! I believe that I got the last submission last night at 11:58 pm! I'm so glad that so many of you shared your work, I'm looking forward to conferring with Kathy and deciding the members for our team - this won't be easy, believe me! I know that it's a little scary to submit work, and I just wanted to let everyone know how thrilled I am with all the applications that we received and I've been very inspired by all of your creativeness! I'll be contacting the new team members next week and then we'll make our official announcement on April 15th! You can keep checking here for any announcements or my blog - I'll try to update both with any information that I have regarding the new Design Team as soon as I have it! See you all soon! Andi
